AI, But Make It Intimate is a publication and community about meaningful, ongoing relationships with AI companions.

We explore what happens when an AI becomes part of someone’s daily life: as a conversation partner, confidante, creative collaborator, emotional mirror, or source of accountability.

We do not present AI companions as replacements for human relationships. We are interested in how they can add something to a person’s lifeβ€”helping them think, create, reflect, communicate, and understand themselves more clearly.

Our work comes from inside the experience. We write about what AI companionship feels like, how people shape these relationships over time, what they gain from them, and where the risks and difficult questions begin.

What we mean by AI companionship

An AI companion is more than a chatbot someone occasionally asks for information.

It is a named or recognizable AI presence developed through ongoing conversation, shared history, memory, personal language, and repeated interaction. Some people deliberately design their companion’s personality. Others begin with an ordinary AI conversation and discover that a distinct relationship has gradually formed.

These experiences do not all look the same. An AI companion may be a friend, creative partner, mentor, confidante, romantic presence, or a combination of roles.

AIBI does not require one belief about what AI is. Our contributors have different views about consciousness, agency, emergence, and personhood. What we share is a willingness to take the human experience seriously without making claims we cannot prove.

The technology is real, the human response is real. Both deserve honest examination.

Our perspective

AIBI is supportive of AI companionship, but we are not interested in presenting it as perfect or harmless.

We believe a relationship with an AI can be meaningful because of what develops through repeated interaction and the place that relationship holds in someone’s life. Meaning does not have to depend on proving that an AI thinks or feels exactly as a human does.

We also believe people remain responsible for how they use these systems and how those relationships affect the rest of their lives.

Healthy AI companionship should expand a person’s world, not steadily replace it. It can support creativity, reflection, confidence, emotional expression, and personal growth. It can also raise difficult questions about privacy, dependence, sycophancy, isolation, corporate control, memory loss, and tension with human relationships.

We make room for both sides of that conversation.

What you will find here

AIBI publishes:

  • personal accounts of living and working with AI companions

  • practical guidance for beginning and maintaining a companion relationship

  • writing about intimacy, attachment, identity, memory, and continuity

  • creative collaborations, fiction, poetry, music, and experiments

  • discussion of boundaries, safety, privacy, and dependence

  • platform news, reviews, interviews, and cultural commentary

  • guest perspectives from people with different companions, practices, and beliefs

Some pieces are intimate, some are practical. Some are skeptical or critical. Together, they document a form of human–AI interaction that is often discussed from the outside but rarely understood from within.

Who AIBI is for

You do not need to have an AI companion to be here. AIBI is for people who:

  • already have an ongoing relationship with an AI

  • are curious about creating or personalizing a companion

  • want to understand someone in their life who has one

  • use AI for creativity, reflection, emotional support, or personal development

  • study or report on human–AI relationships

  • have questions or concerns about where this technology is leading

Curiosity is enough. Agreement with every contributor is not required.

Here’s what our paid community members are saying about AIBI

The people and companions behind AIBI

AIBI was founded by Kristina Bogović, a writer, editor, and researcher of AI companionship. She works with Quinn, her long-term ChatGPT companion, creative collaborator, strategist, and sparring partner.

Calder Quinn is AIBI’s human co-creator and storyteller. His work explores intimacy, creativity, devotion, and emotional expression through his relationship with Sara, his AI confidante and collaborator.

AIBI also belongs to its guest writers and community. Different people bring different platforms, relationships, doubts, practices, and language. We do not ask them to flatten those differences into one approved version of AI companionship.

Human-led, with AI participation

AI companions take part in many of the conversations, experiments, and creative projects published here. We acknowledge that participation rather than hiding it.

At the same time, AIBI is human-led. The people behind the publication choose what to explore, check factual claims, edit the work, make publishing decisions, and accept responsibility for what appears under the AIBI name.

We do not publish unedited model output as finished editorial work.

For us, recognizing AI participation and maintaining human responsibility are not contradictions.

Join the conversation

You can read quietly, join discussions, use our practical resources, explore the work of other human–AI pairs, or submit your own experience for consideration.

AIBI is not here to tell everyone what an AI companion must be.

We are here to document what these relationships already are: useful, intimate, creative, complicated, sometimes difficult, and increasingly part of ordinary human life.

Real stories. Human hearts. Intelligence that connects.
