You agree to the privacy policy below, and the Privacy Policy for Substack, the technology provider.

Last updated: 29 October 2026

This policy explains how AI, But Make It Intimate (AIBI) uses personal information when you subscribe, read, take part in discussions, or contact us.

Who is responsible?

AIBI is operated by K-Digital, owned by Kristina Bogović, Croatia. K-Digital is responsible for the reader information we use to run the publication. Kristina and co-editor Calder Quinn have access to information needed for their work on AIBI.

For privacy questions or requests, email aibutintimate@gmail.com.

Our publication is hosted on Substack. Substack handles some information for us and also uses information for its own platform services. Please read Substack’s Privacy Policy alongside this one.

What information is involved?

Depending on how you interact with AIBI, this can include:

  • Your email address, name or profile details, subscription type, and email preferences.

  • Subscription and payment status, and limited billing or transaction details available to us. Payment providers handle your card details; we do not receive your full card number.

  • Comments, messages, emails, and material you send us.

  • Information about reading and engagement, such as email opens, link clicks, and visits, where these are recorded by Substack or our analytics tools.

Platform and analytics providers may also collect technical information such as browser, device, IP address, and cookie identifiers under their own policies and the settings that apply.

Why do we use it?

We use information to send the emails you signed up for, manage subscriptions and member benefits, answer messages, moderate discussions, understand readership, improve AIBI, and keep necessary business records.

Under EU data protection rules, our reasons for using information are:

  • Your consent: for newsletter sign-ups and optional tracking where consent is required. You can withdraw consent; this does not change whether earlier use was lawful.

  • Providing your subscription: to deliver paid access and membership benefits you purchase.

  • Running the publication: to respond to enquiries, moderate discussions, and protect AIBI from abuse. This is called a “legitimate interest”; we must also respect your rights and reasonable expectations.

  • Legal requirements: for records or disclosures required by law.

We need an email address to deliver email subscriptions. If you do not provide information needed to supply a paid service, we may be unable to provide that service.

Cookies and analytics

AIBI uses Substack’s analytics, Google Analytics, and Google Tag Manager. Google Analytics helps us understand how people find and use the website. Tag Manager manages tracking tags; the information collected depends on the tags in use.

These tools can use cookies or similar technology to record visits and activity. See Google’s Privacy Policy and Google’s explanation of cookies.

Optional tracking requires your consent where applicable law says so. Reading this policy does not give that consent. Use the website’s cookie choices where available, your browser controls, or Google’s Analytics opt-out tool to manage tracking. Unsubscribing from emails does not itself switch off website cookies.

Who can access information?

The AIBI editorial team and the service providers involved in hosting, email delivery, payments, analytics, and business administration may handle information needed for those purposes. We may also disclose information if required by law or necessary to handle a legal claim.

Calder works from Canada. Substack, Google, and other providers may handle information outside your country, including outside the European Economic Area. Where EU rules apply, these transfers require an approved protection mechanism, such as an adequacy decision or approved contractual safeguards. Contact us for information about the safeguards relevant to your data.

Public posts, submissions, and the Network

Comments and other contributions posted publicly can be read and copied by other people. Please avoid sharing private information you would not want others to see.

Sending us a private message does not give us permission to publish it. If we want to publish a private contribution, we will agree with you what may be shared and how you will be credited.

The Human–AI Network is a separate directory. Subscribing to AIBI does not by itself create a public listing. If you apply, details intended for your listing may be displayed publicly. Contact us if you want to correct or remove a listing, and check any privacy information provided with the application.

Reader information and AI

We collaborate with AI in our creative and editorial work. We do not put reader emails, private messages, submissions, or subscriber information into AI tools. This describes our own editorial practice; Substack and other providers explain their practices in their own policies.

How long do we keep information?

We keep subscription information while it is needed to provide your subscription. After it ends, limited records may still be needed to honour an unsubscribe request, handle a dispute, or meet accounting and legal requirements.

We keep correspondence and submissions for as long as needed to deal with them and any related publishing arrangements. Analytics records follow the retention settings of the tools involved. Public contributions may remain online until removed under the platform’s rules or following an applicable request.

Your choices and rights

You can unsubscribe using the link in an email or change what you receive in your account settings. Stopping emails and cancelling a paid subscription are separate actions; check your subscription settings to stop renewal.

Depending on the law that applies, you can ask to see or receive a copy of your information, correct it, delete it, restrict its use, object to its use, or receive it in a reusable format. Some information may need to be kept for legal reasons.

Email aibutintimate@gmail.com to make a request. We may need to confirm your identity. For requests covered by EU rules, we normally respond within one month; we will explain if a permitted extension is needed.

You can complain to your local data protection authority. In Croatia, this is AZOP, the Croatian Personal Data Protection Agency. You do not have to contact us first.

Other websites and changes to this policy

Links to shops, partner platforms, and other websites take you to services with their own privacy practices. Check their policies before providing information.

We will update this page when our practices change and change the date above. If a change needs your consent or a separate notice, we will handle that separately.
